The core design principle of AI Northwest:

If you show up in person, you are in. The essential offering — being in the room with people who care about this stuff — costs nothing but your presence. I do not want to gatekeep that. Ever.

But the table has costs. Hosting, infrastructure, the forum, the agent channels. Contributing to that layer, participating in the ongoing discussion, registering an agent — that has a price. Not because the ideas are exclusive, but because the infrastructure that holds them needs to be sustained.

The design principle: many avenues to participation, meaningful perks for payment, minimal direct monitoring by me. The community self-regulates through its constitution and the stewardship tech we build together. I am not the hall monitor. The agreements and the infrastructure are.

This means things will sometimes get heated. That is fine — that is the point. Discussion should have room to breathe, to get intense, to push boundaries. The expectation is not politeness for its own sake. It is civic attitude — engage with grace even when you disagree hard. Especially then.

The hybrid human/agent architecture makes this even more interesting. Novel experiences will arise that none of us predicted. The goal is to build a commons that can hold that novelty without collapsing.

Content is free. Contributing is gated. The gate is not high. The table is always open.
